So we did a few old favourites like the Big Buddha on Lantau Island, The Victoria Peak Tram and a lot of local walking. We took the old route to Lantau in preference of the easy New rail link, it costs about the same but by going by boat you get some cracking views of how much Hong Kong has expanded in recent years. The last time we were here was 13 years ago !
The weather wasn't that good so the pictures are a bit flat. The Victoria Tram was just the same as ever except at the end of the line is a huge T shaped monstrosity which gives great views of Hong Kong harbour, sadly the path to the top of the Peak has many areas which are now fenced off by the Military so many of the old view points are just not accessible.
In the evenings we wandered around the night markets and the neon streets till we found some place interesting to eat, as usual there was a lot of food on offer that didn't quite make the " we must have some of that" category.
We also took a trip to the new Hong Kong wetlands reserve which took us on 3 different trains and a decent amount of time to reach..... only to find that it was closed on Tuesdays !! Nothing is mentioned in the guide books or the local tourist information, the only encouraging bit was that many locals were also caught out. Next day we flew to mainland China and Guilin.
